A Note From the Pastor
As I drive around the area and see the coming of the Fall season, I can’t help but notice the beautiful color of the leaves this year. I had expected Fall to be dull in color this year due to the lack of rain this year, so I was amazed to see the colors. It is a very welcome thing after what has happened in this year of 2020.
I think for most of us this year has been one frustration after another. That is not to say that there have been some good things that have gone on this year. There have been weddings and births and other things that have been bright spots in the year, but overall, I feel, it has been on the not so colorful side.
So when God surprised me with the beauty of the Fall leaves, it was like a breath of fresh air for me. There are times in life that we forget the fact that God is in charge. The virus is not in charge, the government is not in charge, we are not in charge. Since God is in charge, the question we should be asking ourselves is, where is God asking us to go and what is God asking us to do at this time in the life of our churches.
I am excited to see that both churches, First and Phelps Chapel have decided to reach out to our communities and be in ministry with them in new and different ways. As well as some of the ways we have been in ministry all along.
Fall has always been a time of harvest, with all of its color and beauty. Jesus tells us in Matthew 9:37, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.” I am glad to say that I believe that we are definitely part of the few. May God bless our harvest, and may we continue to see the beauty of God in all He has created!
In Christ’s Service,
Pastor Larry
