Where are you located?
We are located at the Gateway to the beautiful Pine Creek Valley, just off US Highway 220N at the Avis exit #120 to PA-44 North towards Pine Creek. Turn left onto Sulphur Run Road and left again onto Phelps Chapel Road.
What time is your service and what can I expect?
Our worship service begins at 9:00am, Children’s Sunday school is at 9:15am and our Adult Sunday school begins at 10:15am. Our service is traditional with a touch of contemporary to help relate the biblical principles through Pastor Larry’s relevant messages. A relating Children’s message is given at the beginning of the service before the children are dismissed for their Sunday school which is taught by Safe Sanctuary certified teachers/helpers expanding our children’s knowledge of the Bible through reading, music, games and crafts.
What should I wear?
As God tells us in 1 Samuel 16:7, 7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (NIV). Whatever you feel comfortable wearing is fine with us as long as it is done modestly. Our priority is sharing God’s word in fellowship with others.
How do you support your community?
Our members volunteer to assemble and deliver weekend food supplies for our school district’s less fortunate children (backpack program). Individual members deliver meals for the local meals-on-wheels program and assist with the packing and distribution of food at the local food bank. We also assist in serving meals at the Love Center. Our Warm & Fuzzy project makes and distributes hats, scarves and gloves to low income families. We encourage our children to also participate in the giving by supporting the Operation Christmas Child shoebox project. Church members supply a youth with money and a shoebox for them to fill. We partner with the American Red Cross to hold quarterly blood drives at our church. We have also hosted festivals to raise money for local families who have been faced with adversities.
Where do I park?
There is a large parking lot adjacent to the church and a smaller parking lot across the street.
Is the church handicapped accessible?
Yes, the side entrance off the parking lot has a handicap accessible entrance.
What type of technology does the church use?
In addition to the traditional paper bulletin, we use Microsoft PowerPoint to project the service onto a screen at the front of the sanctuary for your convenience.
We offer free wi-fi during the service if you wish to follow the Bible readings from your favorite online source.
We also have Hearing Assist devices for those who may need this service.
We recently implemented a Text Notification service to send out reminders of upcoming events/meetings and to inform members if there is a cancellation due to weather or other reason. This service is available to those who sign up and provide their text (cell phone) number.
Do you have any special services?
We have several special services throughout the year. These include an Easter Sunrise service, a Memorial Day service, a Thanksgiving service/breakfast, Hanging of the Greens and a Christmas Eve service.
Please consider visiting us some Sunday as we would love to have you as a part of our church family.
